Jeeso Environmental Solutions and Development Organization (JEESO) is a nonprofit organization that works with international and local donors, and stakeholders, to identify community problems especially environmental Problems, design and implement projects that have far-reaching socio-economic and socio-cultural positive impacts within Somalia Federal State.
The organization is a pioneering environmental Solutions and development organization committed to fostering sustainable practices and addressing critical environmental challenges. JEESO operates with a mission to safeguard the environment, promote sustainable development, and improve the quality of life for communities across the Somalia, and has operational head offices in Galkaio and Muqdisho. JEESO was registered as a national local NGO in 2017, with annual renewal of certificate since then, Specifically, the organization specializes in project design, implementation and evaluation of environmental and agricultural programs that seek to ensure community participation in the management of their socio-economic and Socio-cultural affairs.
Jeeso Environmental Solutions and Development Organization (JEESO) Somalia provides Environmental Solutions projects, like environmental protection (natural resource management), Disaster Management and Climate change, and Environmental development consultation, around the Puntland region. We have been mandated to provide Short course training in environmental protection in Somalia, we provided quality environmental education opportunities that meet the physical, psychosocial, developmental and cognitive needs of small farmers affected by environmental problems like droughts and Floods.
The organization recognizes the role the local community plays in project acceptance, change of attitude and sustainability. The word JEESO itself means chalk which is an appropriate material mainly used to teach the people in rural areas, and thus the JEESO organization are designed as a center of Environmental and agricultural knowledge and guidance.
To this end, the organization works with the local people in every step of project implementation in each project it implements.
Our Mission
· To formulate policies and plans on environmental protection, energy, nature conservation and the promotion of sustainable development.· To raise community awareness of and promote public support for issues related to environmental protection, energy, agribusiness and sustainable development.· To promote collaborative efforts through regional and international co-operation.· To implement environmental protection and disaster management related legislation and plans.· To administer robust environmental impact assessment in the planning of new development and major projects.· To improve the fertile seeds and quality of the live farmers zone in the region.· To help build long term assets and promote the self-reliance of poor farmers in the communities especially those who are in the rural areas.
Our Vision
Our vision is to seek a world of hope, where Environmental problems and poverty has been overcome and people live in dignity and food security. JEESO will be a national (and even Global) force and partner of choice within a worldwide movement dedicated to ending environmental problems and Climate Insecurity.
Our Objectives
1.To fight drought & floods by establishing boreholes and promoting agricultural production for vulnerable farmers.
2. Increase environmental protection awareness to ensure availability of methodologies for environmental and agricultural solutions and sustainability.
3. Reduce risk and enable people to meet their own food and nutrition needs.
4. Improve the quality of the primary agricultural education by creating workshop activities.
